What is Psoriasis ?
Psoriasis is a psychosomatic disorder which means that both the mind and the body of the patient can cause and get affected which can lead to issues like low self esteem, itchiness and much more.

This disease leads the immune system to become overactive resulting in excessive and fast skin cell growth and exfoliation almost 7 times the normal growth and shed of new skin. It can result in the formation of thick, scaly plaques and can affect anywhere in the body from scalp to toenails.
This being said psoriasis is not a condition that is untreatable and if the symptoms are correctly presented to the right doctor this condition can be easily treated, it is also not at all a contagious disease and so, does not spread from one person to another through any form of contact.
Many other skin diseases like eczema, lichen planus etc. may also have similar presentation and can be misdiagnosed easily. In order to diagnose psoriasis,a thorough examination and a detailed history taking should be carried out along with sound treatment for the patient's mind and body.
